The next meeting of the GSO Budget Committee will be held on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 at 5:30PM in SAC227. ALL groups that wish to apply for funding for speakers or events that will be held between now and the November Senate meeting MUST come to this meeting to present their proposal; events scheduled for later in this semester are encouraged to present early, to allow more time for any changes to be made. Robert Tillman, Director of the Science Alliance for Students and Postdocs at the New York Academy of Sciences, will be on campus Thursday, September 3 from 3 to 4:45 PM in the Career Center, W0550 Melville Library. He is currently an active member of the Association of American Medical Colleges’ Group on Graduate Research, Education, and Training Postdoctorate Leaders Section Steering Committee.
He will talk to graduate students and postdocs about professional development. Robert received his PhD. from Washington University in St. Louis, and completed a two-year postdoctoral appointment at New York University School of Medicine.

Panelists from Opus Scientific, BNL, and the National Post-Doc Association will give individual perspectives on the job market. This event is open to graduate students at all levels, but individuals defending and graduating within the year will find the information highly valuable!

GSO Members, the fiscal year has come to a close, and we must complete all reimbursements in time for our annual audit.
As such, ALL requests for reimbursements or funding from the GSO MUST be submitted by July 13th to the GSO office. If we receive your application after this date, you WILL NOT be reimbursed!

If you are planning an event and wish to receive funding from the GSO, you must present your event proposal to this committee for review prior to a vote by the full Senate. Please prepare a brief description of your event and an itemized budget. Further details on the funding process will be provided at the meeting. If you are unable to attend this meeting, please notify me as soon as possible.
